📅 ANNUAL EVENT | AnxiAetas: getting through the age of anxiety
Saturday 15 October 2022, from 2:30pm
Milano Bovisa – Lecture hall Carassa e Dadda (here)
You’ve just woken up and, reading the news on your phone, you unintentionally bump into the daily number of deaths caused by Covid-19. While waiting for the metro, you open Twitter for a few minutes and you find out that another alpine glacier is about to disappear. During the coffee break, you access your LinkedIn notifications and you discover that a friend of yours has just been nominated for Forbes Under 30. Back at home, you turn on the TV and while cooking you hear about a possible war escalation. At the end of the day, before closing your eyes, you scroll down your Instagram feed and you stop for a few seconds on a post with an athletic body that apparently follows the perfect diet.
How do you feel? Do you constantly feel the urge of acting – and that if you don’t, something bad is going to happen? Even positive things stress you out? Are this “dark and difficult times” (quoting Dumbledore) upsetting you?
If the answer is yes, no worries. You’re not alone. In such times, You-Know-Who flourishes, and not a lot of people have the courage to speak openly about it. But we must not be afraid to name it.
It’s called Anxiety.
During the 2022 ASP Alumni’s annual event, we’ll conclude the series of conferences and meetings on mental health trying to answer some non-trivial questions. What is anxiety? What are its different types? Is anxiety always negative? Is it normal to be frequently anxious?
We’re going to do it with a special introduction and an exceptionally tailored panel of psychologists and psychoterapists. More surprises are yet to be revealed!
